2017 Rock The Block Song Contest Submissions

This one is from an artist going by the name of Alberta Bound, and the song is titled 'Down Main Street" He doesn't have any major events coming up, though if picked by the judges, he may be playing at Leduc's downtown grand re-opening July 24th. This one is from Diana Turner, one of the voice and piano instructors here at Turner Guitar. Her song is called "Trust Me" and features her on the ukulele with James Turner on the bass. You can find out more about what Diana offers in terms of music lessons HERE. Here is another great submission to Main Street Leduc's Rock the Block songwriting contest from a local band called Original Six. The song is called Airport Town, and was recorded by one of their members, Jeff McLellan. The band will be playing a show at Leduc Legion Branch No. 108 on May 19th, and Brixx Bar in Edmonton on June 9th. If you want to hear more from them, you can visit their website

Here is an entry from an Edmonton based musician named Gary Sneddon. His song is called 'Leduc is Special'. Gary also play's in an all Beatles cover band, and as a hobby does celebrity voice impressions.

This is from a group out of Spruce Grove called Soap Box Duo. Alexander and Jenesa have been playing together as Soap Box Duo for a year and a half, and have played over 160 shows in this time in a variety of venues. The submission is from a Leduc based duo called Turner & Tillack. James Turner and Laura Tillack have been performing together for about 6 months and host various open mics and other music related events in the area. This one is from a folk, singer-songwriter originally from Leduc named Carly Reirson. Her song is titled "In Your Arms". Carly has a Debut EP called "Fantasy" that is available on iTunes, and she will be playing at the LME showcase in Calgary at the end of May. You can find out more by visiting:

Here's another great song submission to Main Street Leduc's Rock the Block songwriting contest from a local singer songwriter named Ashley Berndt. Her submission is titled 'Travellin Home', and the video features Ashley singing and accompanying herself on the guitar. Ashley has a folk album called "Beautiful Cancer" available, as well as a few others on the "Bonzai Progressive" label that you can find if you would like to hear more from her.

This submission is from Elisabeth Turner from Roaring Colours Photography and her Fiancé Corban Froude. The song is titled "Good Things Come". Elisabeth and Corban will be performing and will have a booth set-up for their artwork at the Leduc Art Walk put on by the Leduc Arts Foundry on July 15th 2017 in Downtown Leduc.


This Submission is from Graham Strach who is the front man for the band Re-form Punk. His song is called Lost Again. You can see Graham play live every two weeks at our Open Mic events at Second Cup in Leduc. He is always getting himself involved in other music related events in the area as well, so to find out more like Re-form Punk on Facebook.

This one is from a local duo named Komika, and their song is named 'I'll Come Home'. Komika is a fairly new group, so they don't have much to link to. However they do have an instagram page you can follow called @wearekomika

Here's another submission for the Leduc Downtown Business Association's Rock the Block songwriting Contest. This one is called Come on Down by The Downtown Sound (Laura TillackJames Turner and Councillor David MacKenzie). The words were written by David, while Laura and James helped with some arranging and performing of the song. 

Here is an awesome submission from a local musician named Jo Johnson (River Poets) called Pioneers of the Prairies. you can find out more about Jo and the music he's produced by visiting his soundcloud page: where his profile name is River Poets.

Here's one from a local artist named Gareth Lambkin called "Old Memories". Gareth is a Drummer, and a singer/songwriter/composer for hire.
