The 2017 Rock the Rails Youth Festival will be held on August 12th from 10am-6pm at the Leduc skate-park. The main draw of the event BMX, Skateboard and Scooter competition but the festival has really gone all out to bring a number of different elements together to make this an event almost anyone would enjoy. There will be DJ camps, Screen Printing camps, a zipline, a Live DJ, Graffiti art camps, and much more. The Turner Guitar Studio has been asked to take part in the event as well, so we are doing so in three ways.

Live Music

First off we will have a small stage set up with live music being played at various times throughout the event. These performances may be sets by our staff, or some other local musicians. If you or someone you know would like to be involved in playing a few songs on our stage, contact us at tguitars@live.ca with the subject line “Rock The Rails Performance”. Some conditions would apply.

FREE Ukulele Primer Class

The second thing we are doing is hosting a ukulele primer classes at 12:00pm. The class will last 45 minutes, and is FREE to attend as long as you have a ukulele that you can use. We will have ukuleles available for rent at $10.00 each, as well as ukuleles for purchase starting as low as $45.00, which will allow you to continue playing and expanding on what you’ve learned in these classes.

This class will be geared towards those who have never played a ukulele before, and want to see what the instrument is all about. We will give some basic information on how the ukulele works, how to play a few chords, and will ultimately learn how to play a full song as a group.

The class will be geared for those who are over the age of 10, though ages 5-10 are also welcome to attend, and we will be sure to work at giving the younger kids the attention they need in order to keep up with the classes.

The class size will be limited, so be sure to pre-register using the form below. This will guarantee you a spot, and will make sure that we know what to plan for.

Free Ukulele Jam Lesson

The Third thing we are doing is a ukulele jam lessons at 2:30pm.  The Jam Lesson will last 45 minutes and is FREE to attend as long as you have a ukulele that you can use. We will have ukuleles available for rent at $10.00 each, as well as ukuleles for purchase starting as low as $45.00, which will allow you to continue playing and expanding on what you’ve learned in these jam lessons.

The Jam Lesson is for those who already play a little bit of ukulele, but want to have some fun jamming with other ukulele players, while hopefully learning a few new things about how to play the ukulele. This is geared towards those who have played for a few months or a few years, and just want to expand their knowledge, gain some more experience, and have a fun time playing with other players in the community.

The Jam Lesson is intended for those over 10 years of age, but like our primer class, those 5-10 years old are also welcome, but may not get as much out of it. The song choices will be geared towards a teenage and adult demographic as well.

The class size will be limited, so be sure to pre-register using the form below. This will guarantee you a spot, and will make sure that we know what to plan for.
